When she came to me at midnight, with a smile upon her face,
When she showed me what she thought about our love.
When she came to me at midnight and her smile was all she wore,
Then I knew that we would need no sleep tonight.

And my lover is my lover and she loves me for my self
And my lover is a lover who can smile.
When we spend all night as lovers we are sure that we won’t sleep
But we’ll spend the night the way that lovers do.

For she held me in her arms and then she kissed me tenderly,
For she knew that I was ready for her love,
For she held me in her arms and with her eyes she stripped me bare
And I knew that we would see no sleep tonight.

And my lover is my lover and she loves me for my self
And my lover is a lover who can smile.
When we spend all night as lovers we are sure that we won’t sleep
But we’ll spend the night the way that lovers do.

When she came to me last midnight and I took her to my bed,
When she came to me and bad me come to her.
When she offered me her body and the pleasures it could grant
Then I knew that I would need no sleep tonight.

And my lover is my lover and she loves me for my self
And my lover is a lover who can smile.
When we spend all night as lovers we are sure that we won’t sleep
But we’ll spend the night the way that lovers do.

Then I kissed her and caressed her and I used her for my own,
Then I held her as I entered her with love,
Then I kissed her where I wanted her and I nibbled her and bit
And we knew that we would need no sleep tonight.

And my lover is my lover and she loves me for my self
And my lover is a lover who can smile.
When we spend all night as lovers we are sure that we won’t sleep
But we’ll spend the night the way that lovers do.

And she rode me like a harlot and I urged her to her ride
And she rode me to the climax of her joy
And she rode me like a harlot and I joined her at the peak
And I knew that I would need no sleep tonight.

And my lover is my lover and she loves me for my self
And my lover is a lover who can smile.
When we spend all night as lovers we are sure that we won’t sleep
But we’ll spend the night the way that lovers do.

Then I rode her like a Hussar and I charged he with my lance,
Then I rode her on the final charge of war,
Then I rode her like a Hussar and she died upon my sword
And she knew that she would need no sleep tonight.

And my lover is my lover and she loves me for my self
And my lover is a lover who can smile.
When we spend all night as lovers we are sure that we won’t sleep
But we’ll spend the night the way that lovers do.

As the small hours got much larger we lying arm in arm,
As the small hours saw us joined in act of love,
As the small hours turned to morning we were loving still as strong
And we knew that we would have no sleep tonight.

And my lover is my lover and she loves me for my self
And my lover is a lover who can smile.
When we spend all night as lovers we are sure that we won’t sleep
But we’ll spend the night the way that lovers do.

When we’d used each others fully and we’d loved the night away,
When my lover still was wearing just a smile.
When we’d used all that wanted to and our night, at last, had died
Then we found that we had had no sleep last night.

And my lover is my lover and she loves me for my self
And my lover is a lover who can smile.
When we spend all night as lovers we are sure that we won’t sleep
And we spent the night the way that lovers do.
Author notes
This is for “the erotic challenge” a song that doesn’t rhyme.

I can’t say I am happy with it, but I have two different tunes that it fits
perfectly and it actually works better sung than recited, which has to be the
aim.
