An Option

There is,
in a dark forgotten corner,
along an unswept path
behind an overgrown garden
a bright light
Yellow-gold and inviting
above a door
black and shining
like a deep pool of oil
unspoiled.
A door and a light I rarely see
busy with everyday
coming and going
down tidy well trod paths
happy with my lot
for the most part
But on dull grey days
days that stretch and grow to unfulfilled weeks
and drag into dreary years
the light keeps shining
And one day
I shall open the door.
