An Option -2-

I hardly see the door on summer days,
When life is good there’s far too much to do.
Yet even now the haunting thought remains,
Another way that’s almost out of view.

Life gallops by and I see straight ahead,
No time to stray down ill-remembered roads.
From morning’s rush to climbing back to bed,
When time is full, I need no other loads.

But there are days that weary into weeks
And weeks that stretch to uninspiring years.
My path is flat, no views from towering peaks
My every step an echo of my fears.

When I forget what all the fuss is for
I’ll find the time to open up that door.

Author notes
I rarely write free verse, but yesterday I wrote this and this is a sonnet
version of the same thought, but rather surprisingly I think I prefer the FV.
