Another Point of View

Each night’s TV is endlessly depressing,
Ill-natured men advance abhorrent views,
Celebrities provide some window-dressing
But I can’t smile while following the news.
A missing child, a cruise ship with a hole in,
The Arab spring unsprung by guns and tanks,
Sad businessmen who can’t achieve their goal in
Economies made fragile by the banks.
And then tonight two hours about stargazing,
Excited folk examining the skies.
So beautiful, the galaxy’s amazing,
I’ve gone outside and can’t believe my eyes.
Binoculars are all it takes to make
Me certain that a scowl’s a sad mistake!
