Apart From All That

I’m sitting watching cricket on my own,
The weather’s fine, not sunny, there’s no rain.
“Do not disturb” is turned on on my phone
I’m happy to let others take the strain.
The game’s not great, we need to win but won’t
Or if we do it won’t be by enough,
I ought to feel despairing but I don’t
Life’s at its best when things are slightly tough.
I’ve many friends, and family besides
But they aren’t here, there’s nothing I need do.
Each worry I should have looks out and hides.
For just a while I don’t even think of you.
However many people are around
I always know where solitude is found.
