April – In England

The rain comes down in stair-rods, then the sun comes out to play,
It’s freezing cold then balmy, that’s an average April day.
The birds are busy nesting and there’s blossom on the trees
But I can’t think of springtime when there’s puddles to my knees.
The winter was a hot-one so I’ll bet on summer chills,
With hosepipe bans and flooding till the water-table fills
But even though it’s awful and I’ll moan and then complain
I love it here in England in the rain!
