Being Me

It’s not a race towards a destination
And not a game that only one can win
No extra prize for moral indignation
To be yourself is not a mortal sin
The compromise must be a part of living
And two and two can equal more than four
Receiving’s not the better part of giving
With head held high my feet stay on the floor
I’ve tried to be the man they all demanded
To what effect I can’t begin to say
But in my heart I should be reprimanded
For letting other actors choose my play
I’m not complete, can never be completed,
But, naked and alone, I’m undefeated

Not sure what you’ll make of it, but that’s what comes out of my head after
reading the prompt, I wanted to give you internal rhyme and an acrostic too,
but my attempts at that were horrid, I don’t have your talent to combine
