It isn’t time to turn the final page
So don’t put on your coat and walk away
Your character is still on centre stage
But you can play this scene another day
Your audience is rapt on tenterhooks
To see the way you slip this little trap
You’ve got to be the star of many books
Just hold my hand and step across the gap
I love you and I need you still alive
And so do many others that I know
This is a game you’re going to survive
So you can write us all another show
My Texas rose stand tall and face the sun
Your show’s begun a new extended run
