I know you cannot have a selfish love
Nor cage a perfect lady as your own
Allow each bird to fly so high above
Or else you’re doomed to die, unloved, alone
No real lover wants to lock away
The object of his feelings deep and true
An ideal love knows that you have to play
Not keep a lively spirit chained and blue
So cast aside all cares and think ahead
You have a life to lead and to enjoy
Hold onto love not just a marriage bed
I know you will not just pick any boy
Your laughing voice and smile may not be mine
I hope you find your taste of sparkling wine
