I prodded him and poked him, I jumped upon his toes
I whistled in his ear hole. Then I tweaked him on the nose
Even when I offered to make a pot of tea;
He only opened half an eye to say “yes please” to me.
I know he isn’t dead yet, though he’s very very old
Because if he was a dead-un he’d be very much more cold.
