Constant Changes

Constant Changes

At the blink of an eye, or the turn of a page,
She could tear you from love to a dungeon of rage;
She could change on a whim, or be true for a year,
When you’re sure of uncertainty nothing is clear.

When we met on the deck of a liner at sea,
She was charming and witty and eager for me,
But as time passed away and was buried in life,
All her sweet harmony turned to soap op’ra strife.

If I’m honest enough to admit I was wrong,
That the tunes that I heard were not Cupid at song,
Why can’t she ever see there is only one change
That could bring all her wants and her wishes in range.

Now abandon the life of a dithering fool
And discover that love is the only true rule.

Author notes
No, it isn’t personal or real, it is the sound of me blowing away soft iambs
and rolling long tetrameters for a while, I like the sound of anapaestic
tetrameter [Posts%20by%20cricketjeff%201_files/happy.gif]
