Cricket on a Friday night

The summer evening sun’s in slow decline
And spreading golden fingers though the trees
I’m sitting watching cricket drinking wine
A Friday night is made for taking ease
The trails of clouds are turning slowly peach
And sparrows gather watching nature paint
West Indies think Sri Lanka’s score’s in reach
If Gayle can cast aside the harsh restraint
The buddleia, alive with silent bees,
Is gently rapping on the window pane
West Indies now seem lost in raging seas
Their followers see hope slide down the drain
The wine is gone, the cricket nearly done
Sri Lanka’s bowlers busy having fun
