Dad

I was not very old when first we met
And I know very little of those days
The fact we met I never can regret
I look to you in almost countless ways
I followed you to work in chemistry
And Science is the field I love the most
You also gave a lead in poetry
I hope one day that you will want to boast!
You’ve been a Dad for over fifty years
The best one that I know by many miles
You’ve helped us see our way past many fears
And shown the way with wisdom and with smiles
So eighty doesn’t seem so long to me
I’ll write again when you are ninety three
