Dancing to the Moon

I saw you dance and moonlight played the tune
The rowan tree sang words that filled my heart
Such haunting notes on contrabass bassoon
As in my dreams you danced my world apart
I saw you sway to moonlight’s melody
Her silver sound reflecting from the trees
The roses sang their scent in harmony
And softly blew my name across the breeze
You took my hand, the moon picked up the beat
We waltzed and whirled along the milky way
The scattered petals underneath our feet
A perfect stage for midnight’s soft display
But every night the dancing ends too soon
As stars applaud the music of the Moon
