The cold release of every year
The hardest end and sweetest start.
The focus of our mortal fear
And yet the cradle of the heart.
When all of life is at an end;
The time you settle with a friend,
The love thats shown around the fire,
The Winter’s home to my desire.

Rispetto, Italian poetry in iambic tetrameter (I have seen other definitions,
including they should be 11 syllable lines) rhymed abab ccdd. In the past they
were sung.
