Drifters

He rarely feels the need to touch the ground
But drifts through life without a single care;
He’s never paused to think on the profound,
He’s in the room but you won’t know he’s there.

You’ve seen his smile but wouldn’t know his face,
You’ve heard his words but won’t know what they mean,
You wouldn’t know he’s occupying space
And can’t recall the last time he was seen.

“I never vote, I have no point of view,
Whoever wins I’ll sit here and complain.
I’d rather leave important things to you,
I’ve lots of not a lot to fill my brain.”

And everywhere you look you’ll see these fools
Content to live a life outside the rules
