Driving to Work

Etched against uncertain blue,
Two mighty mountains rose in grey.
As sparkled lights of every hue
Competed to begin my day.

A sun-kissed river, virgin white,
Seemed threaded through a timeless vale
And golden folds dispelled the night
A gilded bonus to this tale.

Too soon the Autumn winds dispel
These visions of some unknown land.
As clouds and trails combine to tell
A story carved by nature’s hand.

November mornings always lie
No day could meet that matchless sky.

Author notes
Spreading vapour trails and ridges of cloud riding a weather front were
beautifully lit by the morning sunlight as I drove to work this morning.
