End of an Era

Round Wycombe there’s wellings of woe
The people have suffered a blow
They’re all of them thinking
Where can we go drinking
The Goblin’s decided to go!

The pub where my friends like to meet
The place where they “stay off the street”
Has given up serving
These folk aren’t deserving
Of misery quite so complete

In pubs all around that fine town
New boozers will find drinks to down
They’ll raise many glasses
To pleasure that passes
And sorrows they’re happy to drown!

Author notes
For a friends of mine in High Wycombe in Bucks who have to deal with the
intense grief of losing their favourite boozer, The Hobgoblin.
