She kept such beauty captive in her mind
And only told the stories to herself
But picture books belong out on the shelf
A treasure trove that only dreamers find
The images her frozen soul designed
Were hers alone through all those hurt filled years
A consolation glimpsed through wasted tears
A treasure trove that only dreamers find
In time she found not everyone’s unkind
She only needed love to help her grow
He looked at her and she began to glow
A treasure trove that only dreamers find
He freed the beauty captive in her mind
A treasure trove that only dreamers find

Author notes
An echo sonnet (well with a modified first line of the closing couplet)
