Falling

The summer evening wears a special light,
A light that fades till darkness owns the skies.
The sky soon fills with diamonds of the night
Tonight will bring the sweetest known surprise.

That night’s surprise gave everything to me,
You gave me all I’d ever want to hold.
Held in your arms your kisses set me free;
That freedom gave me strength to win the gold.

A golden ring now settled on your hand,
Your hand in mine, my love inside your heart.
The heart of everything I ever planned;
The plan I never dared to think could start.

We started something new as evening fell,
I fell for you and then you fell as well.

Author notes
I find wreathing convincingly to be almost impossible. I envy some of the
others who have made it seem so natural.
