Filled with you

Filled with you

My eyes are closed I’m drinking in the music drifting by
With violins and bongos in my dreams
The notes are going nowhere but they’re colouring my sky
While stitching life together at the seams
And Sunday is still Sunday and there’s nothing I must do
Save fall asleep to music while I fill my heart with you

Each time the music changes all my dreams are rearranged
Another set of words begins to sing
The thoughts that I’m ignoring can be softly interchanged
With sounds that make tomorrow’s worries swing
The weekend’s drifting slowly there is really nothing new
I’ll fall asleep to music while my heart is filled with you

The gentle repetitions seem like heartbeats of the World
Outside a blackbird starts to sing along
Ideas I’ve saved unravel other thoughts stay tightly furled
But nothing that was right’s becoming wrong
While minutes melt to nothing cups of tea arrive on cue
And I’ll pretend I’m sleeping round a heart that’s full of you

At last the music changes and I’m jolted wide awake
The ambience explodes in strident chords
The playlist I’ve created must contain a coarse mistake
Rose petal notes replaced by rusty swords
And although the mood is shattered sunny skies are still in view
Because I know all music means my heart is filled with you
