Flinty

They called her that since she was hard as nails
Yet brittle when approached a certain way
This combination almost always fails
To win a heart and then to have it stay

The sharpest shards were shed when things went wrong
And hurt the very ones she tried to save
Her heart it seemed would sing a bitter song
She never understood that they forgave

And then a man of skill took her on board
He knapped her to produce the perfect tool
She was to him a perfect graceful sword
While just for him she was the softest fool

The name has stuck but now she’s not the same
Don’t treat her wrong or you’ll know who’s to blame!
