Fools

It’s flooding down in Somerset, it’s snowing in the States
A drought across Australia, an El Niño awaits
The records tumble left and right, but bloody fools agree
“It’s all the fault of random chance, and nowt to do with me”
The seas are running short of sharks, while jelly-fish increase
And everyday there’s some new war but never some new peace
The rich get rich the poor do not but still the fools agree
“It’s all the fault of someone else, and nowt to do with me”
I wonder if one day we’ll learn we’ve only got one Earth
And taking more than our fair share costs more than it is worth
If we refuse to face the truth but let the fools run free
It won’t be someone else at fault, just everyone like me
