Forever

I found forever on a screen
In words that dripped from perfect mind
In cadences so stripped and clean
I chanced upon my greatest find

What can you say when first you see
That there is more than you could dream
Inside the realm of poetry
A vision that can reign supreme

I see forever in a thought
That’s wrapped inside a stunning phrase
A phrase so intricately wrought
That it alone can fill my days

What is there left for me to write
Now that I’ve seen the end of time
I shall just strive to bring to light
Reflections of the words in rhyme

Forever is not quite the curse
That lesser poets such as I
Had feared when first we glimpsed the verse
That seemed to paint a brand new sky

From all the words that filled my screen
Presented by a poets mind
I chanced upon some shoots quite green
That made my work seem more refined

And now forever is my aim
I write in hope that maybe I
Will one day be the one to blame
For giving someone else the sky
