Friday Morning Thoughts

It’s cold outside, and raining, but it’s Friday
And I’m indoors and I’ve a cup of tea
So overall I still believe it’s my day
The next three days will see me home and free
I got a few hours sleep so I feel rested
And nobody has called me on the phone
My equanimity has not been tested
Since everyone is leaving me alone
Perhaps the future isn’t dark and shady
Perhaps it’s not as gloomy as some think
And maybe there’s a lovely looking lady
Who’ll whisper in my ear and give a wink
A long weekend in prospect makes me feel
That some of what life promises is real
