I tried to write a love song full of laughter in the rain
I tried to see your smile instead of tears
But all I found was heartache and an overdose of pain
Instead of love you listened to your fears
How will I ever touch you if you’ve bolted all the doors
Life’s not a game of win and lose or totting up of scores
I tried to write tomorrow as much better than today
But dreary clouds have changed your point of view
How can I bring you daydreams when you’ve locked your heart away
And every sky is grey instead of blue
You’ll never feel my kisses if you cover up your face
Life’s really rather simple when your smile is back in place
