Goodbye Aunty Buddy

She died today
Talked to her sister, then slipped away.
Weaker and weaker, though wearing a smile
Elegant, cheerful, herself for a while.
It’s hard to see dying, the end of the book
To finish the story, take one final look
Some chapters were happy and some chapters sad
But I know I knew her, and so I am glad.
She laughed last I saw her, and thanked me once more,
For something and nothing, then I closed the door.
A long life, a full one, has faded away
She died today.
