Happy Birthday

She fell to Earth in Texas one fine June
To set the world alight with poetry
As beautiful as any crescent moon
Campaigns to let the sufferers go free
She smiles and melts the hearts of many men
A wink and they are slaves of hers for life
She captures many more with just a pen
One hundred poets wish she was their wife
Her Birthday dawns but still she has to fight
A cancer tries to eat away her soul
But through it all her writing’s fresh and bright
She’ll close her eyes and dream her world is whole
I want to send you such a Happy Day
To send a gift of love in every way
