Have Fun!

It’s “Happy Birthday Jeff”, another one
And you ain’t getting any wiser yet;
But there’s no gain in moping or regret,
So knuckle down and have a load of fun.
A while ago they fired the starting gun,
But, like a fool, you didn’t dash away;
You wasted time you should have used for play,
Now make amends and grab your share of fun.
It could be years before your life is done,
Don’t waste them all in mourning what is lost,
The man you bought is surely worth the cost;
The time has come for you to have some fun.
It’s “Happy Birthday Jeff”, another one
Is just a good excuse for having fun!
Author notes
Echo Sonnet:
A “new poetic form” based on the Kyrielle sonnet, like the Kyrielle sonnet it
has 3 quatrains and a couplet all ending with the same line (or a similar
developing line ending with the same rhyming word) also like the Kyrielle
sonnet the first line is also the penultimate (second to last) line. Unlike the
KS however the poem is decasyllabic (ideally iambic pentameter) and the rhyme
scheme is abbA accA addA aA.
a, a and A lines all rhyme and a and A lines are the repeating lines.
