How Dare He!

His rhymes are the best there can be
His meter flows effortlessly
His humour is dark
But there’s always a spark
How dare he be better than me!
His limericks aren’t always clean
His barbs can be verging on mean
But there’s no objection
They’re so near perfection
That every one has to be seen
He’s British, a point in his favour
And writes in my favourite flavour
So though I’ll still hate him
I just have to rate him
A poet all poets should savour!
