I Want to Win

I want to feel the melting sand
Beneath my tide touched toes,
To feel the sun drops where I stand
As ozone fills my nose.
I want taste the onshore breeze,
That loves the lungs on days like these.
I want to watch the gulls at play
And trace a distant sail,
Hear everything the seashells say
And maybe sight a whale.
I want to feel you stand by me,
To watch the ocean’s poetry.
Then walk with you on gentle hills,
Through fields of buttercups .
Where open air cures all our ills
And downs turn into ups.
I want to dream I’ve spread my arms
And flown away from life’s alarms.
We’ll amble through the oak and beech,
In dappled bluebelled shade.
A grassy bank puts you in reach,
As woodland love is made.
I want to be where life is ours,
To dream between the summer’s flowers.
I want to see my eyes in yours
And know the you behind.
Forgetting all our heretofores
Inside a single mind.
I want to be a part of you,
To claim a prize long-overdue.
