I’d like to think about a theme
That fills a poet’s waking dream
And gives his words their brightest gleam;
But all my thinking’s thunk.
Perusing cues that prose would lose
Before I shouted out “J’accuse!”
But I have got a bit of news
That all my thinking’s thunk.
No thoughts careen inside my head;
Perhaps my muse is lost or dead
So I will head instead to bed,
Now all my thinking’s thunk.
Another day that’s lost to thought,
Another day of fights unfought,
Of fires unlit and slack untaut
Where all my thinks have thunk.
