Idolatry

To try to bring an orchid to the light
To tease its subtle beauty from the shade
To show the world a talent rich and bright
Is worth the price whatever must be paid
I’ll offer help in any way I can
To feel the pride with every petal shown
I know that I am just a foolish man
Who is in love with everything that’s grown
But I can only teach those things I know
And only little things are in my range
The biggest truths are up to you to show
Your inner voice I would not want to change
There is a truth I feel I ought to say
Every idol knows its feet are clay
