If I could hold your heart for just one moment
Unwind your mind with perfect poetry
If all your aches and pains were mine to foment
Then Eden would be second best for me
If I could feel the whisper of your breathing
Your face lain on my pillow in repose
Or listen to the rumours of your seething
Then I would own the beauty of the rose
If I could sit and listen to you reading
I’d find the answers to my first desire
For I would see this foolish world receding
Consumed within the heart you’d set afire
If I could rest my gaze on your complexion
Then finally I’d witness true perfection
