A Birthday demands celebration
It merits poetic creation
And her efforts unstinted
To see our works printed
Means FrenchGirl’s deserves acclamation
So “Many returns of the day”
Is one thing my poem must say
“Have a drink, have a meal
Approach both with zeal
And push real life out of the way”
So go out and beg steal or borrow
The means to dispel mortal sorrow
I’m firm in my view
That today’s just for you
(You can work all the harder tomorrow!)
