In a Passing Idle Moment

In a passing idle moment I was drawn to think of you,
And a smile of gentle loving temped blue tits into view.
Then the song thrush, on the fencepost, started singing me delight
Causing sparrows in the holly to give up their latest fight.

Overhead the swifts and swallows started dancing through the air,
As I thought of soft embraces breathing passion through your hair.
In the pond a swarm of tadpoles swam about in serried ranks,
While a pair of stripy beetles hunted lunch along the banks.

I had berries for the picking and some roses for the scent,
Garden birds for entertainment, and I knew I was content.
Such a perfect day in summer, Mother Nature’s best on view;
In a passing idle moment I was drawn to think of you.
