In Solitude

In solitude I walked alone,
No cheerful calls on telephone.
I seemed to don a bold disguise
As white hot tears escaped my eyes;
In solitude.
Whatever harvest we have sown,
Whatever kindness we have shown,
Is lost when grief takes exercise;
In solitude.
My lifelong friends are swiftly flown
So no-one hears my mournful moan,
However hard my spirit tries
I cannot hide these bitter cries,
Now life has left me on my own;
In solitude.
