In the Forest

In the Forest

Every clearing in the forest is a blend of dark and light
Where you hear the dance of daylight and you sense the beasts of night
Every tree gives birth to beauty and to dragons you can’t see
In the forest life gives best to fantasy

Close your eyes and you will hear her as she serenades her pet
And as long as she keeps playing there are fears you can forget
But in silence he awakens and he stalks each woodland glade
For the forest’s where the darkest dreams are made

If you linger in the darkness or beneath the dappled sun
You may be the latest victim of dryad’s sweetheart’s fun
You will feel his breath behind you and will hear one final sound
In the forest where your body may be found

But if you are ever watchful and respect the spirits rules
You can revel in the beauty and escape the fate of fools
Never wander from the pathways never dare to harm a tree
And the forest will be pleased to let you be.
