Infatuation

Infatuation

There are times I should be dreaming
But instead of that I’m screaming
For another chance to fill my heart with you
You have stolen simple pleasures
With brief glimpses of your treasures
And now I’ll never find somebody new

Long before it’s time for kisses
Every Cupid’s arrow misses
When a single thought of you puts out the fire
Though she’s beautiful and witty
She can never be as pretty
As the goddess who commands my true desire

Like the Moon you fill my night-time
So there isn’t any right time
For another heart to beat beside my own
I’ll have friends instead of lovers
Sleep alone beneath my covers
Since my only chance of happiness has flown

Can’t believe you never knew me
Though your image overthrew me
Always knew that there could never be an us
There are girls who want possessing
While I’m uselessly obsessing
On a poster selling perfume on a bus
