Isabella waiting lonely by the phone
As the days turn into weeks without a word
Never thought that she would spend this time alone
For a lover and a mother it’s absurd
He had walked into her life so long ago
Now the weeks turn into months and into years
There ought to be a life of love on show
But all that’s left is just a telephone and tears
He was tall but never handsome just a man
But he was kind and made her feel that special way
She was innocent and fitted in his plan
She accepted everything he had to say
He was married but he saw her all the time
And he loved her and the children they would share
A mistress may be odd but not a crime
She was happy on the days that he was there
It’s the fate of jet black hair to fade to grey
Other younger looking ladies turn his head
Youthful bounce and sexy curves can slip away
Other girls with softer skin now fill his bed
Both her daughter and her son work with their Dad
Isabella sits at home beside the phone
She has memories of all she thought she had
Every night she waits for phone-calls on her own
