It Only Takes a Minute

The rasping sound of knife on stone,
When you’re alone,
Can raise the fear
That death is near.

So when she heard his ringing blade,
The sound she made
Was choked and small,
Who could she call?

The fear recedes without a sound,
No-one’s around;
Beneath her head
The rug’s stained red.
