The clouds have cleared and Jupiter’s in view
A telescope reveals his coloured bands
The giant spot that no-one understands
And every night his changing face is new
Across the disk flit tiny silver moons
Their ink black shadows masking mighty storms
The ritual dance the universe performs
With spinning balls round festival balloons
Before I die I want to wander space
See marvels no astronomer has seen
The hidden cogs of nature’s great machine
And contemplate our own peculiar place
Will there be time for me to see for real
The mysteries binoculars reveal
