Just a headache

The noctilucent vapour trails show Jupiter the way
Before the stars get out of bed to mark the end of day
The yellow lights of London and the sunset’s afterglow
Are curtains round the edges of the stellar picture show
The Moon is getting plumper as she sinks behind some trees
Their silhouettes make patterns as they’re dancing in the breeze
The pigeons roosting noisily provoke the magpies rage
And peace around the pear tree won’t return for quite an age
There’s chicken for my dinner and of course a cup of tea
I’ll settle down to eat it with myself for company
I wonder is it worth it, should I write or go to bed
Whichever one’s the better cure for thumping in the head
