Just a whisper in the ear

She was sad in bed beside me, gentle tears caressed her cheek,
In a day charged with emotion I had not the words to speak;
Then she leaned up on her elbow, with a dream that I could see –
Just a whisper in the ear, “make love to me”.

When the dawn was clean and golden and the birds in perfect tune,
Saw the Sun took up her station from the silver shining Moon.
We were watching in amazement, never dreamt such things could be –
Just a whisper in the ear, “make love to me”.

There were feelings quite unuttered chasing round inside my head,
And a part of me was crying “can’t believe that he is dead”.
So I held her very closely while we chatted silently –
Just a whisper in the ear, “make love to me”.

Working hard achieving nothing, only troubles in the way,
You head home on crowded transport from your most frustrating day;
Then you settle down to moping, and a steaming cup of tea –
Just a whisper in the ear, “make love to me”.

There’s a breeze across the garden dancing leaves above your head,
And the scent of honeysuckle’s waking roses in their bed.
You are sitting lost in daydreams, reading perfect poetry –
Just a whisper in the ear, “make love to me”.

After dinner, feeling happy, and you know that you’re replete;
Through your half closed eyes you’re certain that the World is now complete.
There’s one sound that can arouse, you set your inhibitions free –
Just a whisper in the ear, “make love to me”.

There’s a single panacea that can banish every ill,
There’s a fragrant breath of magic that you’ll welcome with a will.
Like the call of dancing mermaids carried far across the sea –
Just a whisper in the ear, “make love to me”.
