Lakeside dreams

The lake is not too large to walk around,
Still water that appears as black as tar.
The silence tries to swallow every sound;
I see this valley as my Shangrila.

I’ll hold your hand and let you drink the scene,
The childlike clouds that dart about the sky,
Across the lake the wood is midnight green
But you are all I need to fill my eye.

You strip and smile and dare me do the same,
A laugh, a splash, a gasp, the water’s cold.
This skinny dip is now the perfect game
I never dreamed that I could be so bold.

Until we’re dry we run to chase the sun
And chasing you is my idea of fun.
