Levels of Love and Beauty

Dust above us means incoming light is scattered
The shorter wavelengths much more than the long
But this knowledge doesn’t mean that beauty’s shattered
A sky this blue’s still worthy of a song.
We can understand how rainbows earn their colour
Read the DNA that gives a rose its scent
Discoveries don’t make our senses duller
Just keener to observe the next event.
It’s never been about explaining beauty
But looking deep to find a little more
Understanding won’t make apples taste less fruity
But it may help you appreciate them more
A diamond shines on many different levels
Atomic structure and engagement rings
A clever man worked hard to learn the bevels
That catch the light to give her heart new wings
I’m wise enough to know which allotrope
Survived volcanic fires to give love hope!
