Life begins at …

Life,
say the deep thinkers of the shallow magazines,
begins at forty or fifty or thirty or sixty
or some other unthought through age.
I hope it is true,
that at some point,
some definite point in the future
life will begin.
I don’t mean I regret what I have had,
children, friends, knowledge discovery
all fill me with joy
and yet
there is an indefinable something,
I still need
I need to feel a part of something more.
I need to sail the seas in a ship crewed
by those who share my destinations.
I need to find where and what those
destinations are.
I need life to begin.
