London after dark

It never sleeps my city after dark
The people spill from all the crowded pubs
As lovers find some quiet in a park
Ten thousand half dressed women hit the clubs

The buzz as booze and sex hang in the air
The hint of stronger measures some have used
While eager couples ooze from everywhere
With invitations made and some refused

And yet there is another city here
Where people work and carry on their lives
Some streets where it is right to walk in fear
And others where a late-night cafe thrives

I see the city from its many sides
And marvel how the flow of life divides
