Longings

Longings

I miss the feel of a silk-smooth thigh
beneath my fingers
of sleepy-head hair on my shoulder
gentle breaths on my face.

I miss the taste of lips and
day-blessed flesh
the sound of soft words
free of form
but full of meaning.

I miss the looks
the sighs
the deep damp eyes,
the angry snap and the making up.

The little touches of love
that make a day worth greeting
a night worth meeting
and dreams reality.

The fire of passion
the ecstasy of expression
and the infinity of release
are large in the literature of love

but

for me
the little things
inconsequential touches
unnoticed at the time
are the true treasures
the pure pleasures
and the real rewards
of love.

Author notes
I wrote this a while ago, have been trying to get it right.
