Lost Opportunity

I barely heard the words that left her lips
But read the lines she wrote behind her eyes.
Already I could taste the sweet ellipse
That would transmit her gentle loving sighs.
We danced alone all round that crowded room
And every step we learned a little more.
I’ll never lose the scent of her perfume
Whatever tricks tomorrow has in store.
But parties end as time pursues his ends,
A piece of me was lost into the night;
A final kiss before she joined her friends
And I still taste that moment of delight.
I’m not a handsome Prince, what can I do?
My Cinderella didn’t leave her shoe.
